Save on Health Insurance for Your Family
This day and age is probably the toughest health insurance issues my generation will ever see. You may have lost your job or the job you have is dropping your coverage, or maybe they are simply raising your premium and you can no longer afford it. Here are just a few suggestions that may be helpful if you are in a situation such as this.
First of all, not to have any health insurance is really not a valid solution. Yes we can be saving, but there is just no guarantee of not getting sick or injured. Even if you are just flat broke, having insurance is extremely important. Start doing your homework and look for the best coverage you can afford. Two key words, afford and best.
One idea is to join an association or membership. Many of them may provide a good plan that might be affordable. A large membership can provide less expensive insurance than trying to get it individually. Another is to check with your state if you are unemployed or self-employed; often they offer a state supported health insurance program for those who are not provided insurance through work. Check with your state agency to find out more about these programs.
You want to get great coverage, but if you’re on a tight budget like so many of us right now, it has to be affordable as well, so weigh the options you have available to you. You might consider just having coverage for catastrophic, after all some coverage is better than none. If you see a doctor only once a year for an annual checkup, catastrophic will be the least expensive way to go. This will give you a large deductible, but keep your premium really low. This will cover you if a long term or unexpected illness happens to occur, say a $40,000 surgery like the hysterectomy I needed to have a year ago.
Talking about health insurance with other people, sometimes what they know and what they might be going through may be beneficial information for you.
Budgeting monthly for your health insurance needs should really be considered as crucial as your other required bills (mortgage, electric, gas, etc.). To find the insurance that best suits your needs and budget, you need to get some health insurance quotes online or by visiting an agent in your area and then compare the benefits.
